Summer 2023 Events
CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH'S A TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN
Thursday, June 8, 12:00 to 2:30 p.m.
Student Center East, First Floor
Student food service begins at Noon
Faculty/Staff at 12:30 p.m.Join the Multicultural Center and Spotlight Program Board for food, music and good vibes as we celebrate and explore the Caribbean culture during Caribbean-American Heritage Month. This event is free and open to students, faculty and staff. This event is supported by Student Activities Fees. Faculty and staff are welcome, too, but to better serve our students, we would appreciate faculty and staff patience in allowing 30 minutes before joining in on food services. Thank you for your cooperation, patience and understanding.
Since 2006, the month of June has been designated by presidential proclamation as an observance to honor the rich culture and heritage of Caribbean people. This month also serves as recognition of the vast contributions Caribbean-Americans have made throughout the United States and the world.

FEED YOUR SENSES LIVE FEATURING VOCALIST/SONGWRITER TASHA LARAE

Rialto Center for the Arts LobbyFeed Your Senses LIVE is back with international recording artist Tasha LaRae. She is blazing her trail around the world with soulful House and R&B vocals that will keep you dancing and feeling optimistic about life. Although her roots are deep in the Midwest (she was born and raised in Omaha, Neb.), relocating to Atlanta has given LaRae the inspiration and opportunities needed to develop her unique sound and shape her artistry. This event is Free and Open to the Public and Free Lunch will be provided while supplies last

JUNETEENTH WELLNESS WALK
Friday, June 16 - 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Hurt ParkJuneteenth is a federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Join us in honoring Juneteenth and learning more about its history during a guided 1-mile wellness walk through campus.
JUNETEENTH COOKOUT

Juneteenth -- also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, or Emancipation Day -- is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of African Americans who had been enslaved in the United States. Join us for food, music, performances and more as we celebrate Black freedom and culture!

Decatur Campus, Student CenterLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBTQ+) Pride Day in the United States happens on the last Sunday of June. It celebrates the Stonewall Riots on June 28, 1969.
