Celebrate Women's History Month at Georgia State in March 2024 with many exciting and impactful activities!
A $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation will support the start of a new program to increase the recruitment, retention, engagement and support of women faculty in STEM fields, especially for women from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.
This year, UN set the theme as "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow", to appreciate the contributions of women leaders, "who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all".

GSU students Elissa Russell (CEHD '20) and Jiana Zapata (RCB '21) win 1st place in the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) short - clip film festival for READI Consulting, LLC. This film festival focuses on short stories, webinars, and clips of women entrepreneurs from around the world. Winners were announced on March 8, appropriately marking this proud and monumental achievement on International Women's Day.

Join the Institute for Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies for their Anne L. Harper Annual Lecture - In the Room: Women of Color Doulas in a State of Emergency on Monday, March 1 at 4:30 p.m via Zoom. They will be joined with guest speaker Jennifer Christine Nash, Jean Fox O'Barr Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies at Duke University.
Dr. Jacquelyn M. Belcher, president of DeKalb College/Georgia Perimeter College from 1995 to 2005, was recently inducted into the Black Heritage of Rockdale County Hall of Fame.
Dr. Belcher pioneered in several ways at the institution, which consolidated with Georgia State University in 2016.
She was the first Black woman to lead the college, the first Black woman to head any USG institution, and the first Black person to head a USG institution of higher education that is not historically Black.

On October 22-23, The Gender Studies in GA Virtual Conference will commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Institute for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at Georgia State University, the 50th Anniversary of women’s studies as an academic discipline, and the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment.
