Join the Multicultural Center, Counseling & Testing Center, Spotlight Programs Board and the Student Center for the 2020 Summit on Culture! This 4-day series of events will help you find the inspiration and skills needed to be a change maker in your community. Check out the full list of events online that start on Tuesday, October 6 and don't miss the keynote address from Rosa Clemente the renowned Afro-Latina community organizer, scholar, and hip-hop activist on Thursday, October 8 at 4pm.

Provost Wendy Hensel Announces Action Plan for the Recommendations of the Task Force for Racial Equality

Provost Wendy Hensel announced on Sept. 17 an action plan for the recommendations of the Task Force for Racial Equality to address diversity, equity and inclusion at the university.

Next steps include the first Diversity Dialogues session on Sept. 30 with President Becker discussing the Task Force for Racial Equality's recommendations and issues relating to campus climate.

Virtual Lecture on Racism in Public Health with Dr. Chandra Ford to be Held Sept. 15

Dr. Chandra Ford, a leading researcher in the study of health disparities, will deliver a virtual presentation for the Georgia State University community about racism in public health, entitled "Applying Lessons from Racism: Science & Tools for the Public Health Professional," from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Dr. Ford is a Professor and Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Racism, Social Justice, and Health at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). The talk is organized by the School of Public Health Task Force on Racial Equity and Inclusion. Huanbiao Mo Appointed Dean of the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions Effective July 1

Dr. Huanbiao Mo has been named permanent dean of the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions, effective July 1.

As interim dean of the Lewis College, he has advanced its well-earned reputation for excellence in preparing the next generation of health professionals and scholars. He established a research council to help support research activities and interdisciplinary collaboration and committees to support and expand clinical education and partnerships. Dr. Mo also has worked to increase the capacity of Panther’s Pantry, which serves Georgia State students who face food insecurity.
