Counseling & Wellness
Georgia State offers a variety of health and wellness programs for our faculty and staff.
The EAP offers face-to-face consultation with a local licensed provider and/or telephonic counseling with one of Acentra Health’s Masters-level clinicians.
Access is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. All calls are answered live by professional counselors. Counseling services are available for issues that affect you, your family, and your household members.

Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) is an online platform that is available at no cost to Georgia State faculty and staff. TAO may be accessed 24/7/365 and utilized in the following ways:
- Self-screening assessments
- Mindfulness Library (self-guided meditation)
- Video conferencing (individual, group)

Workshops, Webinars and More
The NCFDD offers a range of services including workshops, webinars and more.
Georgia State University is an institutional member of the NCFDD.
NCFDD is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community for over 83,000 faculty, post-docs, and grad students, dedicated to supporting academics in making successful transitions throughout their careers. The organization offers workshops, professional development training, and intensive mentorship programs that provide concrete, empirically tested strategies for increasing productivity, and pays special attention to the challenges faced by underrepresented faculty.
Georgia State faculty, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are eligible enroll in a free sub-account to access the center’s online resources on topics such as increasing writing productivity, prioritizing and managing time, cultivating mentors, securing external funding, and maintaining work-life balance.

University Senate Cultural Diversity Committee
The University Senate Cultural Diversity Committee advises and makes recommendations to the University Senate on matters regarding cultural diversity, including equal treatment, ways in which the campus climate might be made more supportive of diversity, including in the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff, and more.
Faculty Affinity Groups
In the report of the Commission for the Next Generation of Faculty, tasked to identify challenges and opportunities for addressing faculty inclusion and belonging, the commission highlighted the need to promote conversations and community engagement among faculty, especially those from underrepresented groups.
In response to this recommendation, the Next Generation of Faculty’s Implementation Steering Committee proposed establishing organizations of faculty interested in engagement, community-building and advocacy among individuals who share the same identity or interests. Staff Council
Staff Council is dedicated to providing service and fostering effective communication within the university community to make Georgia State the best possible place to work.
Staff Council works to facilitate communication of staff issues among all sectors of the university and advises the university president and campus administrators on matters that have a major effect on staff. Staff Council plays an important role in shaping policies and procedures related to staff.
Access and Accommodations Center
The Access and Accommodations Center’s (AACE) seeks to create an accessible community where people are assessed on their ability, not their disability. AACE also strives to provide equal access to students with disabilities and provide individuals with the tools they need to accomplish their educational and career goals.
AACE collaborates with administrators, faculty and staff to ensure reasonable and appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities are provided. AACE offers the appropriate auxiliary aids and services to assist otherwise qualified persons in achieving access to its programs, services and facilities.
Office of Faculty Affairs
The Office of Faculty Affairs provides supportive infrastructure and programming to recruit, appoint, retain and support faculty members and to help them achieve their full potential.
The Office of Faculty Affairs provides support in the following areas:
- Faculty-related policies and procedures such as those related to appointment, leaves, and promotion and tenure;
- Faculty development programs, workshops and fellowships, many of which are offered through our outstanding Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning;
- Leadership programming for university administrators and department chairs; and
- Management of Georgia State's awards process to recognize outstanding faculty through a range of university-wide and system-wide awards.
International Partnerships and Agreements (IPA)
IPA is responsible for facilitating partnership development, overseeing partnership support and establishing partner outcomes at Georgia State. Its mission is to is to excel and lead partnership engagement to achieve distinction in globalizing the university. Through initiating partnerships, coordinating agreements, hosting delegation visits and promoting international funding opportunities, IPA helps to advance Georgia State’s global connections.
