Join Georgia State’s Cultures, Communities and Inclusion team and the university community in observing Asian, Pacific Islander & Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month with events during the last week of March and throughout April.
Although this commemoration is officially observed in May, the university holds events and observances so all may participate before classes end for the spring semester.
While the commemoration is designated Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by the U.S. Congress, we use the term APIDA to intentionally include people of South Asian descent (Desi) as part of our community. There is a great diversity of identities and ethnicities encompassed under the APIDA umbrella, including but not limited to East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander.
If you have an event you’d like to submit, please visit oursubmission form page.

Georgia State recognizes heritage months by celebrating the customs, values and traditions of various cultures, examining the issues and struggles of those communities as well as affirming their contributions to society. Heritage months are important in providing intentional space for teaching, learning and reflection.
Cultures, Communities & Inclusion (CCI) and partner departments celebrate the identities and histories of members of Georgia State’s global communities. Each month there are vibrant performances, lectures and activities that up lift our rich cultural diversity and help us understand our shared history.
