
Georgia State departments, clubs and units are celebrating Lunar New Year on Tuesday, Feb. 1 with different events.
Lunar New Year is particularly celebrated in East and Southeast Asian countries and among people in communities from these countries spread across different cities globally.
Commonly known as the Spring Festival in China, Lunar New Year is a fifteen-day celebration marked by many traditions, culminating with the Lantern Festival. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger.
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: The Department of Middle & Secondary Education, Department of Kinesiology and Health, and the Asian/Asian American Faculty Identity Group (AAAFIG) are holding a Lunar New Year celebration including food, arts and crafts as well as a discussion about diversity, equity and inclusion, particularly related to the Asian/Asian American community.
The event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the College of Education building on Pryor Street in Room 1030. Click here to download a flyer from the departments.
1 to 2 p.m.: Georgia State's Chinese Language, Culture and Business Initiatives, the Chinese Club, and the Department of World Languages and Cultures are celebrating the Year of the Tiger from 1 to 2 p.m. through a virtual event.
