Georgia State recognized veterans among its students, faculty and staff during Veterans Recognition ceremonies on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at the Perimeter College Clarkston campus, and on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the downtown Atlanta campus.
Veterans bring diverse perspectives to Georgia State and to the country, with unique life experiences, perspectives, challenges, talents, and skills to offer in a nation that now has an all-volunteer military - a much less common experience for Americans as a whole.
The university has more than 2,800 military-connected students among its diverse community, and Georgia State has been recognized as one of the top military and veteran-friendly institutions in the nation in the past 10 years.
The university's Military Outreach Center provides staff to deliver service and support for military-connected students, who have particular needs in their transition to higher education. On a peer-to-peer level, the university also has a Student Veterans Association, and GSUVETS is the university's faculty and staff military and veterans group under the Diverse Faculty Alliance.
