Don't miss this exciting, informative and thought-provoking virtual workshop from the Black Male Student Mentoring Initiative at Perimeter College, "When We See Us: Perceptions of African American History and Identity in the Disinformation Age."
The virtual workshop will start at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17.
Dr. Shawn L. Williams, Professor of English, Humanities and Africana Studies, and author of I'm a Bad Man: African American Vernacular Culture and the Making of Muhammad Ali, will discuss how the presentation and interpretation of African American history shapes self-perceptions as Black men - especially in this age of social media and disinformation.
The Black Male Student Mentoring Initiative is a student success program that pairs Black male faculty as mentors with Black students at Perimeter College. This virtual workshop is the first for the initiative this academic year.
