Despite years of efforts to increase faculty diversity in the United States, the landscape of the academy does not represent the diversity of talent, a fact borne out by the latest report from the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics. This session will highlight the national and institutional implications of diversifying the academy, assessing how academic pipeline initiatives are used, replicated, and promoted at the institutional level around the country. Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski, III, president of University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Dr. Jamal Watson, editor at Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, will discuss how these programs are positioned to transform the educational landscape.
This free, one-hour webinar is the final in a series of three conversations with Drs. Curtis Byrd and Rihana Mason, in which they discuss key takeaways from their newly released Lever Press publication, Academic Pipeline Programs: Diversifying Pathways from the Bachelors to the Professoriate. The webinar will end with an audience Q&A session.
This event will be recorded and shared with all registrants.
